Infosys gets 150 acres for second campus

Hyderabad: The state government on Saturday went on a land distribution spree with the Cabinet allocating thousands of acres of land to various companies and institutions.

    Software major Infosys Technologies Limited got 150 acres for developing its second campus, while three companies got 250 acres each for developing an integrated information technology special economic zones around Hyderabad; a private company got a 1000-acre site at Achyutapuram in Visakhapatnam district for setting up a garment city; Apollo Hospitals got a 10-acre site in Visakhapatnam rural mandal for setting up a superspeciality hospital; the Army Welfare Educational Society got 15 acres in Shamirpet mandal for opening the Army Institute of Health Sciences; Hyderabad Public School got a 50-year extension of lease on its land at Begumpet; Hyderabad Exhibition Society got 24.67 acres of land on a 50-year lease for building permanent stalls.

    Besides, judges, MPs, MLAs, IAS and all-India service officers, ex-MLAs or their widows and journalists too have been allocated a total of 245 acres around Hyderabad for house-sites.

    Infosys Technologies Limited got its second installment of land near the new international airport at Mamidipally in Ranga Reddy district. Infosys will set up its second campus at a cost of Rs 1000 crore in the state and provide employment to 25,000 software professionals.

    The Cabinet also gave its nod for the allocation of 250 acres of land each at Mamidipally to three IT park developers — Stargaze of Raheja group, Indu Projects and Brahmani Infotech of Navabharat Ferro Alloys group for development of integrated IT special economic zones. Together these three majors are expected to create 1.35 lakh jobs in five years.

    Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved the creation of two new posts — special grade deputy collector (land protection) and deputy collector (legal cell) — at Tirupati for the protection of land belonging to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
